Sofia, mom and dad are in the bedroom - Sofia and mom on the bed and dad kneeling watching the two. Sofia is in mom’s arms and mom is kissing her (Sofia’s head and eyes turned away). Dad comments about how well Sofia smiles "it's the best smile in the world" and is encouraging her to look at him and smile – which she does. She makes eye contact with dad who is himself pleased by the interaction.

Mom takes Sofia downstairs to the kitchen, while she prepares supper. Sofia is placed into her carrier and put on a countertop. Mom thinks about how to keep Sofia stimulated. She fetches an orchid and places it, above Fia who immediately stares at the flowers. Mom leaves to put on some music. Sofia’s brothers arrive to help mom cut vegetables and Nomsa takes Sofia upstairs to bath.
