Leago is in his washing basket, chewing on a teething ring. Mom is preparing his food in the kitchen. When she sits down in front of him she sticks out her tongue and he tries to mimic her.

Mom pick Leago up and faces him towards the TV and starts to feed him. He stares ahead. He eats and swallows more easily than some of the previous solid feeds. Mom comments (in Afrikaans) “You know ‘Purity’. You understand ‘Purity’ – referring to the food brand.

Leago stares at the TV screen – a music video with women singing and dancing.

Leago notices the filmmaker and watches her, partly smiling and making sounds towards her. Mom starts to sing “Food, food” while spooning the Purity into Leago’s mouth. He immediately looks up at her – gazing at one another for a long while. Leago begins to move his head and body to prevent mom from feeding him more. Mom sings and repeats words while she feeds him the last few spoons full.

After a few minutes on mom’s lap, Leago turns to her breast and buries his head there. Mom quickly takes her breast from inside her jersey and begins to feed Leago, who is curled in mom’s arms. He stares up at her. She is talking to granny. Leago makes a grunt sound towards mom and then continues to feed.
