Banele (235 days / 33.4 weeks) 01 00:13:05
Banele | Attachment (secure/insecure), Communication, Connect/disconnect, Crawling/standing/walking, Drive, Empathy/ Lack thereof, Self-regulation, Siblings, Support
All the children are at home. Dad has had his contract renewed and has gone to work. Sihle lays out a towel on the floor and moves the table to make space for Banele on the carpet. The children/siblings want to show the filmmaker that Banele is able to crawl.
The siblings gather round Banele, trying to coax him towards different items they are holding in their hands. They observe his responses and comment on his level of interest or disinterest in what they are offering. Sihle and Siyabonga, like mom and dad, tell Zanele not to do what she is trying to do alongside them.
While the siblings encourage Banele, there are times when he pushes them away or turns his head away.
Banele responds with a few crawling movements and when Siyabonga goes to fetch a dictionary, (which he says he knows Banele will like), Banele crawls quickly to the book, placed on the floor.
