The family is engrossed in a tv show. Banele is standing between mom and dad on the couch making noises. There is a relaxed atmosphere in the family. Mom and dad talking to one another, smiling and occasionally laughing. Mom is encouraging Banele to move towards a pillow which she holds away from him and then put closer. Banele moves towards mom and nestles into her, looking between the phone that she is swiping through (he tries to do the same), and gazing up at mom. Dad it touching him and straightening his clothes. Mom smiles at Banele when he looks up.

The other children are all sitting on their couch, also watching the programme. Zanele seems to be practicing her English “don’t mind me, mind you” she repeats a few times to everyone’s amusement.

Banele, now sitting on dad’s lap, is staring at the TV. Mom calls him and he briefly turns to look at her before returning his gaze to the screen. Mom prods at him to try to draw his attention away from the screen, while the other children watch him, amused. Banele leans more and more towards the TV, eyes wide. “Bhuti (brother) is staring at the TV like he wants to jump into it” says Siyabonga. – everyone laughs.

Mom takes some scones out of the oven. These are made for the family to eat over the next few days. There is also additional batter for scones that she will sell for additional income.
